FDA: Consumer Who Sold "Sunscreen Pills" Are Misleading Consumers And Putting People At Risk.

On May 22, 2018, the United States Food and Drug Administration issued a statement indicating four companies who sold pills and capsules labeled as dietary supplements made unproven drug claims about protecting consumers from the harms that come from sun exposure.

On May 18, 2018, the FDA set warning letters ( 1 , 2 , 3, 4) to each of these companies indicating that their labeling and marketing practices violated the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act. The warning letter gives these companies, GliSODin Skin Nutrients, Napa Valley Bioscience, Pharmacy Direct, Inc. and Sunergized, LLC, fifteen days to respond to the warning letter and to take action to correct the violations. To date non of the companies have responded.

The products manufactured by these companies are Advanced Skin Brightening Formula, Sunsafe Rx, Solaricare, and Sunergetic.
