VA Staff Pathologist Found to be Impaired: 19,000+ Cases Affected

On June 18, 2018 it was announced that the Veterans Health Care System of the Ozarks is reviewing all cases read by a staff pathologist who was accused of possible impairment. According to the release, the pathologist was found unable to work and was removed from the clinical practice immediately. The pathologist has since been terminated. 

More than 19,000 cases at the Fayetteville facility and other outpatient clinics have been affected, according to the VA. One death has also been reported as a result of misdiagnosis.
